Co-sleeping: the cartoon version (and a happy 70,000 to Mama C!)

Co sleeping cartoon

With this little cartoon, I will reach my 70,000 hit on the blog.  How about something different to commemorate? I thought about how to depict this frequent scenario (complete with me on the other end of the bed) in a cartoon for the last two nights. Of course it took me 3x as long to complete as a post would have. But I loved the process-the crayons, markers and about 30 attempts at capturing a bed, a me, Sam’s upset and Marcel’s hair. Honestly,  I’m tickled with the outcome too.  It’s nothing like the professional image I conjured in my head. So I’m embracing imperfection, having fun, and trying something new just for the heck of it.   When was the last time you put something out of the ordinary out there?  Or how is another way you are taking risks–and trying something new? Goodnight and thank you so much for sharing in this little milestone moment on the blog too.

  1. Over vacation Catherine starting creeping into her bed. I couldn’t blame her since she is the most easily relocated to the blow up bed in the event of guests. At the end of vacation, she didn’t want to sleep in her room alone. The first night I indulged her, by the second night I took the hard line and kicked her out like the mean mommy I am. When they were infants I would do it just to get a few hours of sleep. Now that the youngest is 4 (and a half!) I must draw the line and give her the boot. She seems to over it and tolerating her bed.

  2. Even though I only have one little occasional co-sleeper, I’ve been in the same position Mama. We often share my grandmother’s bed when we spend nights with her. Emma is always the one nestled in the middle like the cream filling in an oreo cookie. All is good, and then you know what happens next – the little arms and legs do there thing.

LOVE the carton! Imperfection? Where? 🙂

  3. But where are the toes in the nose? How can your little ones settle so nicely on their sides of the bed? Marshall was always the one who would start out vertical in the bed and end up horizontal with a foot pressing against my forehead or something. Had him for an hour this morning–and even at 10 years old (him, not me LOL), it was delicious!

  4. What a great drawing of daily (nightly) life with kids. I’ve been trying to move our youngest out of our bed, at three, but she still keeps coming back and every night that I can’t get a good night’s sleep is just exhausting (it’s been a long nine and a half years)!

  5. I was suggested this web site by my cousin.
I’m not sure whether this post is written by him as nobody else know such detailed about my difficulty. You’re incredible!
    Thanks!
