My photos on Marcel Monday, brought more comments on my photography then ever before. A close friend wrote to me off line asking who took the pics, and how. When I confessed it was an i-phone app, her response was;
“How cool that Steve Jobs can CREATE A BLEEPING APP THAT NEGATES MY ENTIRE EDUCATION-wait, that sounded wrong–they are beautiful photos because you took them –not because of the app..”
Well, that last part is up for debate, but it was high praise from the fine arts/art history major. Then, a tweet arrived asking for the specific lens, and film I used to capture the picture of Marcel running down the hall. As I am never on the cutting edge of anything, I was wildly excited to give up all my details.
When my digital camera was stolen this fall, I was hesitant to purchase another, because I had become so attached to that one. Turns out the three bucks I unloaded for this app, has proven to be one of the best investments of the year.
Another postaday2011 participant that I have remarkably come across is a photographer dedicated to the art called Caterpillar Steps. She has an ongoing discussion on the merits of digital verses print film. I just love her clarity, stillness and soft spoken drama. Go check out her pics, and tell her your Mama C sent you!
My iPhone pictures are not nearly as good. I think the iPhone is only as good as the photographer behind it! 🙂
I’ll take it! Thank you Mama.
Thank you so much for your kind words. (And the traffic you sent my way.) I will try to live up to your praise.
